Formerly known as Layco Electric Innovations, we entered a new chapter as American Power Innovations in 2025. This new identity reflects the immense growth we have experienced as a company in recent years, as well as our ongoing commitment to providing top-tier power distribution solutions and custom-engineered products to customers across the country.
This change also reflects our ongoing investment in U.S.-based manufacturing. With our centrally-located production facility and commitment to sourcing materials from domestic suppliers, we’re able to maintain control over quality standards and improve delivery times for our customers.

With a track record of driving performance across complex portfolios and a distinguished military background, Brandon brings deep operational expertise and strategic focus to American Power Innovations.
Previously, he served as Vice President of Operations at Argonaut Private Equity, where he drove strategic and operational improvements across a diverse portfolio of companies. A former U.S. Navy officer, Brandon has also completed three deployments to the Arabian Sea and one to Iraq and is a graduate of the elite TOPGUN program. His unique combination of critical leadership and technical precision reflects American Power Innovations’ own values of collaboration, advancement and integrity.
He graduated from the United States Naval Academy and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
As Chief Financial Officer, Zach brings a mission-driven approach and two decades of experience to drive American Power Innovations’ growth. With a history of building high-performing teams and executing complex transactions, he leads the company’s finance & accounting, capital markets, and enterprise administrative functions with strategic precision.
Before joining American Power Innovations, Zach held senior leadership roles across the energy infrastructure industry — including founder of a private midstream firm, CFO of a private equity–backed midstream operating company working closely with upstream partners, and corporate development leader at Fortune 500 energy enterprises focused on large-scale M&A. A U.S. Army veteran of the 25th Infantry Division, Zach is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
Michael drives operational excellence at American Power Innovations. With nearly three decades of global manufacturing leadership, he brings a sharp eye for creating efficiencies in production and delivery, improving quality control, and optimizing organizational practices to improve financial health.
Prior to his work at American Power Innovations, Michael was the Managing Director at SHAPE Technologies Group in Baxter Springs, Kansas where he managed global contractors to reduce leadtimes and led cost-saving organizational changes while maintaining steady workforce and profit growth during his tenure.
Shawn leads strategic efforts across sales, engineering, and business development at American Power Innovations. With over 20 years of experience in the electrical manufacturing industry, Shawn is known for building lasting customer relationships and delivering solutions across key sectors including oil and gas, utilities, manufacturing, and aggregates.
Before joining our team, Shawn held a Senior Sales Engineer role at Eaton Corporation where he played a pivotal role in expanding market share throughout North Texas through targeted sales strategies and technical leadership.
